The choice of materials
Whilst your Architect will advise on the merits of the appearance and durability of the external (and visible) fabric of the building, there is a choice of structural materials - eg. concrete, steel, timber, brick - that your Structural Engineer will consider to ensure that the building is designed in the most economic way to achieve the desired structural form. The choice of materials used in the structure may have a significant impact on the cost of the finished product and it is essential that consideration is given at early stages in the project to achieve appropriate economies.
