Preparation of structural designs

When a new building is designed or alterations are made to an existing building, it is likely that some structural elements (foundations, beams, floors, roofs, walls etc) will need to be structurally designed or verified to ensure they comply with the relevant Codes of Practice.

Structural calculations are generally prepared for submission to the Local Authority for Building Regulations. The preparation of calculations may require one or more site visits to be made to assess loading conditions, inspect existing structure etc although wherever possible we will work from your architectural drawings.

According to your requirements and in line with the agreed Scope of Works, we will give structural advice on the feasibility of the proposals and will prepare structural calculations and sketch details - typically for incorporation into your architectural drawings - for Building Regulations submission and for your builders use and information.

To minimise the cost to the client, architectural, general arrangement or structural drawings are not normally prepared unless specifically requested but are available when agreed in writing.

Fees for the preparation of structural calculations are generally based on an hourly rate although a fixed price quotation may be agreed, if required, prior to work commencing.
